"Commonground I Innovation keep us together" was the Opening Conference theme of the 10th edition of Maker Faire Rome. It was a theme that confirmed and promised to celebrate the interconnected worlds, the people, and the community of changemakers who are still redesigning the scenarios in which we operate and driving social change. It also highlighted how traditional organizations converge with these communities and, together, manage to generate new, fluid models and solutions that push the boundaries of the world as we know it.

The theme for 2021 was "Fast Forward - The Future In The Making": the recognition of circumstances that have accelerated long overdue changes, and the celebration of the capacity to "do" that has made it possible to manage the uncertainty of these endless months since the beginning of the pandemic. A theme that finds in design the "turbine of social transformation," the foundational infrastructure of a new individual and collective way of living between the physical and digital realms, "which has the ability to give sense, meaning, and reason for things to exist."
