A good, healthy snack with a low environmental impact that will help us save the planet
To ensure that the worldwide demand for food resources does not further weaken the energy balance (already very compromised) of our planet, many experts have identified insects as an alternative source of eco-sustainable food. Edible insects contain high-quality protein but with a much lower environmental impact than meat. In fact, already crickets, scorpions and other insects such as ants and bees are regularly consumed by 2 billion people.
The London-based company Crické, present at the Maker Faire Rome – the European Edition 2019, has set for itself the goal of promoting acceptance of this practice in the West, overcoming a cultural taboo for the benefit of the entire planet. For the occasion, Crické will present Eat Crickets, the revolutionary snack of the future: tortillas and crunchy crackers made with cricket flour.
Cricket flour is one of the most nutritious and healthy foods that exist. In fact, crickets have more protein than meat, more iron than spinach, and more calcium than milk. Edible insects such as crickets are also one of the most ecological foods because cricket farms require less land, less water, less feed and less energy than normal animal farms. That’s why, thanks to Crické’s snacks, we will save the planet and our children will no longer be forced to emigrate to Mars. And let’s not forget that Eat Crickets crackers and tortillas are delicious!
If you are curious to find out more about this food of the future and maybe want to taste a delicious cracker or two, then do not miss the Maker Faire Rome – the European Edition 2019, the world-famous innovative technology fair that will take place in the pavilions of the Fiera di Roma from 18 to 20 October 2019.
