The Opening Conference of the “Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition” 2019 will take place on Thursday 17 October at 5:45 p.m., in the heart of Rome. Two hours of stories of innovation told by international speakers of great importance, in a spectacular event. Groundbreakers, pioneers, forerunners: they are those who work in the present with what will constitute our normality tomorrow.

The winners of  “Make Christmas Lights” and “Make to Care” contest will be announced during the Opening Conference.

With the participation of Lercio.it. and the video greeting from Luca Parmitano from the International Space Station

“There are good ideas. And then there are those who turn good ideas into projects and piece by piece build the future. Concrete, tangible inventions that arise when passion is combined with ingenuity and especially when people inspire each other. The network and the communities put technological know-how into circulation and new combinations are created. At “Groundbreakers – Re:making the future” we will explore some of these combinations: when design meets electronics, industry meets 4.0, science meets open-source, robotics meets Africa, artificial intelligence meets economy, art meets mechanics and circular economy meets ethics. For seven years we have believed in the power of those special people we call makers: those who are excited about their projects and who see problems as great creative opportunities. Because innovation is that infinite process whereby when you invent something you are at a new starting point and not at an endpoint. This is our common thread.

There are those who go on stage and they tell their stories of innovation to inspire others: that stage is Groundbreakers. We look forward to seeing you.”
