IMATI participates in CAxMan both with the Pavia and Genoa units. The contribution of IMATI within CAxMan will be twofold. On the one hand, we will provide physically-based simulation and analysis tools for optimal industrial design, for example to model injection moulds with optimized cooling channels. On the other hand, we will exploit our knowledge in geometry processing and shape understanding to optimize the process planning for AM, providing customized, printer aware, solutions for all the key building blocks of the process planning pipeline (shape repairing, building orientation, slicing and support structures).
