Daniele Colasimone, Emiliano Furfaro

Emiliano Furfaro:
I was born in Frascati (Rome) on 24/04/1978 and I am living in Rome.
I attended the University “La Sapienza” in Rome where I got the Master of Science degree in Particle Physics
with a final grade of 105/110 and afterwards I got a Ph.D. degree in Particle Physics at University “Tor
Vergata” in Rome. During the studies, I increased my knowledge in programming obtaining Java and C++
professional qualification. At the same time, I studied analog electronics and CAD drawing in order to design
and build Hi-End vacuum tube audio amplifier systems: I started a small production with one product
reviewed in a magazine of the sector.
During my job thesis, I worked at the LHCb experiment at CERN in Geneva taking care of the study and the
optimization of performances of muon revelator by means cosmic rays using tools I developed in C in the
ROOT environment. In this period, I worked at CERN too for several months on mounting and testing of
experimental sub-apparatus.
Just after my degree, I got a fellowship at INFN in Rome continuing working at the LCHb experiment being
“CERN user” and expert of the muon system. During such period, I worked at front-end electrons handling
by means tools designed by me in SCADA environment.
Afterwards I attended the Ph.D. course at the “Tor Vergata” University in Rome continuing working at the
LHCb experiment. In this case I worked on data analysis of the experiment by means C programming and
“machine learning” technique for big size data. The result of my work was the precise measurement of B
meson mass.
I applied as principal investigator to “Young Researcher” competition announcement of Italian
Ministry of Health in 2009 and 2010 with projects named "Terahertz spectroscopy and imaging for
diagnostic purposes in rehabilitation" and "Terahertz spectroscopy and imaging for diagnostic
purposes".
After my research experience, I started working as C programming developer for safety related
integrated systems in the railway sector.
