We are the IAL FVG school, the first and only high school address in Italy that trains "Digital Artisans".
This year the students have worked on the topic “toys without barriers” aimed at children aged between 3 and 7 to foster equality and inclusion. The purpose is making the toys accessible to all children.
Several projects have been proposed and some of them have been selected by a commission of experts.
Among the selected projects there is a game that enables blind children to experience logical concepts through the creation of simple digital electronic circuits.
Another project is about the “hot thread”, a traditional game which you could find in the village festivals back in the 70s’. In this game you had to slide a ring on a thread without touching it. This game has been revisited and implemented to make it accessible to blind children through sounds and vibrations.
Another project consists of an “Alfabetiere” (an alphabet device), where you can find on one side a LED matrix and on the other side a servo motors series. The LED matrix generates the letters and the servo motors generate the Braille signs; the overall setup is very captivating.
All the projects have been fully carried out by the students in the school lab. You can see perfect samples of digital crfats in them.
In addition, we are showing a selection of projects realized during the first three years since the school has started, among which: a project to support children’s approach to food and particularly to “polenta” in kindergarten canteens; a “Clock” with an original and unprecedent format of reading, that has been developed as a research project; a set of inuitive chess game which shows the rules of the movements on the pawn itself, etc.
We are also bringing the experience of a student, still attending our school, who, after the professional internship done in the second year, has been hired by a company specilized in 3D printing for the medical sector.
