VIRA

Vira is a project of medical device for early diagnosis of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection, which will help prevent uterine cervical cancer and oropharyngeal cancer, through a rapid and non-invasive test. This innovative system will allow to make a diagnosis from a small saliva sample and with real time response. Vira will include two components: a disposable sterilised cartridge, to collect the saliva sample, and a device to analyse and read it. Frausin’s project get inspiration during her senior thesis, in cooperation with the start-up Ulisse Biomed, and the start-up New Design Vision, a spin-off of the University IUAV of Venice.

Martina Frausin

Martina Frausin was born on October 7th 1992, in Trieste. After graduating from G.Galilei high school in Trieste, she began her academic education at Università degli Studi di Trieste where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture Sciences. She continued her education at Iuav University in Venice, graduating with the highest honours and obtaining a Master Degree in Product and Visual Communication Design, with Vira, a project in medical design developed in cooperation with the start-up Ulisse Biomed. She is currently collaborating with the start-up New Design Vision, a spin-off of the University Iuav of Venice, where she has just started her PhD in Design Sciences.
