Crowd4Africa

60 printers built by students from 8 to 15 years. A new process for 3D printing starting from plastic caps. A crowdfunding campaign on the Internet organized by 15 students with the support of a professional team of volunteers. A fundraiser that exceeded three times the minimum required.
This is the open source project "Crowd4Africa" that will donate to African hospitals two mini-3D printing factories to produce the essential parts and prosthetics at minimal cost by reusing plastic waste (caps, cans, ..).
At Crowd4Africa stand, Maker Faire visitors will experience 3D design and print and crowdfunding through Internet platforms.

The Crowd4Africa project group consists of:
-> 15 students aged 15 to 17 years of the course "3D For world" who realized the fundraising campaign
-> 69 children aged 8 to 15 who attended the free course "Making 3D Printers" aimed at teaching 3D design and building of 60 personal open-source 3d printers with 700 components.

The students are assisted by a professional team of volunteers (engineers, professors, doctors, entrepreneurs, parents ....) who passionately dedicate their free time to support the didactic courses and the humanitarian project. The volunteers are organizing innovative tec course since 4 years. Last year, for example, the course Making Drones, present at the Maker Faire, taught to 60 students to build and fly their own professional drone.
