Un batterio sterilizzante contro la zanzara tigre
A new method to fight the Asian Tiger Mosquito is ready to be applied in our urban areas thanks to the collaboration between ENEA, which developed the technology, and the Start up Biovecblok from the University of Camerino, which is developing an innovative and ecocompatible pest control service. In fact, the males produced by ENEA, besides being harmless because they do not bite, have the ability to sterilize the wild females once they mate with them. A periodic and massive release of these males in an environment infested with mosquitoes will make it possible to reduce their number, thereby also reducing the risk of disease transmission.
