The work "From Sicilian citrus fruits to environmentally friendly solvents" aims to study some innovations in the field of "sustainable green" chemistry that aims to replace the use and production of toxic and dangerous compounds with environmentally friendly products.
The IVA chemistry class has studied and produced orange and lemon terpenes that can be used as environmentally friendly solvents to replace synthetic solvents, which are harmful to the environment. In fact, from citrus peels, by steam distillation, essential oils are obtained which differ from synthetic solvents for their natural component and low environmental impact in disposal.

The IVA Chemistry class is made up of 15 students who have always shown a lot of interest in all the laboratory activities proposed by the teacher. Participation in extra-curricular activities has always been proactive. The human factors that contribute to creating this positive climate are linked to the willingness to carry out class activities with an active spirit and with fairness and respect for the rules. Curiosity as a driving force characterizes many students who show a certain propensity for a study that is not mnemonic but based on research and dialogue
