Advanced Modelling and Digital Fabrication in Architectural Engineering
The multidisciplinary project Advanced Modelling and Digital Fabrication in Architectural Engineering combines the themes of structural design and construction science with innovative digital processes for the design and fabrication of building elements, allowing efficient structures to be realized with minimal material commitment and practices of self-design and widespread production. The proposal makes particular reference to 'tensegrity-origami' structures and structural elements obtained by topological optimization techniques.

Ilaria Giannetti, Michele Marino and Andrea Micheletti are associate professors at the Department of Civil Engineering and Computer Engineering of the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". Ilaria Giannetti is an expert in the history of construction and modern engineering and is passionate about parametric design and digital fabrication. Michele Marino and Andrea Micheletti are experts in the mechanics of materials and structures and are passionate about structural design. The work team is also composed of students and young graduates in Engineering-Architecture and Civil Engineering.
