CAMOSCA - CArrozzella MObile sulle Scale Completamente Automatica / a CAr Moving On the Stairs Completely Automatically

A "standard" electric wheelchair redesigned with auxiliary stems and wheels, to afford steps and even steep stairs.
On meeting each step the wheels alternate with the auxiliary ones. The 2 coupled front pairs vertically extend towards the lower steps; the rear wheels - fixed - are coupled with a foot in a frame moving both horizontally and vertically.
Sensors measure steps and positions of stems and wheels. A PLC automatically drives the march, always with shoulders upwards, and manages hazards.
Off-stairs maneuverability is as usual.
A prototype, working and tested for mechanics and automation, is available.
