The design challenge was to create a first layer garment with smart fabrics and highly technological sensors, capable of measuring vital parameters (breaths and heartbeats) and other bodily stimuli and capable of transmitting perceived information to electronic applications.
This project was carried out by ITS TAM BIELLA with the collaboration of two companies, Tessitura F.lli Ballesio srl of Turin, which supplied us with the conductive silver fabric and ASTEL srl of Pavone Canavese, which designed the electronic device and systems. for motion control.
The idea was born from the need expressed by the two companies, which collaborate with the Italian Auxological Institute, to create a comfortable t-shirt to record sleep apnea and which, with specific software, was able to send the data collected by the sensors on the T-shirt directly to an application on the mobile phone, in order to allow remote monitoring of the patient.
Our research has also made it possible to expand the range of end users of the product: sportspeople, the elderly and people with sleep problems (due to stress and / or use of medicines).
Cuore di Maglia is an innovative project, as it involves the use of sensors for recording the electrocardiogram and breathing integrated into a garment. This innovation is based on IoT technology, capable of expanding the range of action of medical prevention with telemedicine projects, using the Cloud to record patient data in the home and send them to healthcare professionals to identify and promptly prevent risk situations.
Currently we have completed the prototype tests which have given positive results, so we will bring the prototype with the software to the Maker Faire
