Soluzioni strutturali innovative nell'ingegneria civile

Soluzioni strutturali innovative nell'ingegneria civile

Seismic isolation is a recent, innovative method for protecting buildings from major earthquakes by installing isolators and energy absorbing devices under the superstructure. Seismic isolation provides not only structural safety, but also safety and security for people and properties in the building. The prototype to be presented shows three types of base constraints in a civil engineering building model. The Three scale models, representing similar frame structures are placed on a shaking table to simulate the different effects of earthquakes depending on the realized internal/external constraints. It is shown that the isolated structure is the less affected by the ground shaking. Recipients are young people and general public, due to the simple and evident structure of the prototype.
