Essere sostenibile per essere alla moda

Essere sostenibile per essere alla moda

According to the European Environment Agency, textile industry is among the main responsible for consumption of raw materials and water, exploitation of the soil, greenhouse gases emission and use of chemicals with serious environmental impact. Puglia is one of the most important Italian regions in agricultural production. Our goal is to reduce the amount of synthetic fibers used in the fashion industry by replacing them with artificial fibers in bacterial cellulose produced from agro-food waste for the creation of fabrics by new digital 3D printing technologies, reducing the exploitation of natural resources.

Studenti di 3C e 4C dell’indirizzo Biotecnologie Ambientali

There are 15 students from classes III C and IV C of the "Environmental Biotechnology" curriculum, full of enthusiasm and passion for science. The project offers them the opportunity to give space to their creativity and to be able to put it into practice in the laboratory. Each member of the group uses their skills and collaborates with their teammates for a common goal: to produce a new textile fiber and transform it through the use of new technologies. The comparison between them produces innovative ideas, essential to revolutionize the current society. They are well aware of the importance of playing an active role towards sustainable change and know that the result will also depend on their own work.
