Transitional Wearable Companions: interactive soft toys to support early therapy with children with Autism Spectrum DIsorders

Transitional Wearable Companions (TWC) are soft and interactive experimental toys, developed to support early intervention in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). TWC are designed to stimulate social interaction, and encourage the development of behaviour such as imitation, eye contact, and smiling towards the therapist.
2 TWCs, the panda PlusMe and the octopus X-8, are currently in experimental phase, in collaboration with the Department of Human Neuroscience (University La Sapienza). The research is supported by the European project IM-TWIN (www.im-twin.eu )
