Komposta is an innovative kitchen hood that is able to cook or transform fruit and vegetable waste into compost by harnessing the heat produced by the stovetop. Through a system of thermoventilation, the dehydration of the organic waste takes just a few hours and completely avoids the issue of bad odours, achieving a high-quality compost in just 6 hours. This process is boosted by the automatic rotation of an internal perforated container which is essential for the complete aeration of the waste and is easily detachable and washable. In the absence of heat from the stovetop, Komposta activates a series of low-powered automated thermoventilation cycles, ensuring the full completion of the process. Why have we developed Komposta? We took a careful look at serious issues regarding both the handling of organic waste and the energy efficiency of the household environment: - The transformation of organic waste into compost would significantly reduce the pollution created by the transportation of waste of which organic waste makes 28% of the total. It is, in fact, the heaviest type of waste after glass and its handling produces a considerable amount of CO2 emissions caused by its transportation (comprising about 470kg per ton of waste). In addition, in case of rain or in the summer, organic waste creates a strong proliferation of bacteria caused by the decay of the piling waste creating polluting fluids and areas of unpleasant odour in cities. – About 30% of the heat we use every day while cooking goes basically lost and untapped, it rises in the air and heats the kitchen hood and surrounding environment without being harnessed in any way. Our solution is a kitchen hood with a sensible purpose. Its “minimalist” design encapsulates a hybrid and completely new function, uniting elegance and a characteristic Made in Italy design that is admired all over the world.
