Sapienza University of Rome
Sapienza University of Rome is the largest university in Europe and the second in the world for number of students. Due to its multidisciplinary nature, Sapienza achieves important scientific high-standard results in many different sectors and it is well known at national and international level. The aim of Sapienza is to support the entire research value chain promoting industrial exploitation as well as social impact of its research favoring technology and knowledge transfer and academic entrepreneurship.
Also this year Sapienza has launched two different calls for ideas and products, addressed to researchers and students, to show its maker attitude during MFR15. The results are extraordinary and varies from electrical vehicles to OSC controller, up to interactive totems for cultural ancient handcrafts and Arduino or Raspberry-based solution for gardens and aquariums management.
More in detail, you’ll be able to find at Maker Faire 2015 all these innovative products from Sapienza: Fast Charge, the first electrical Formula 1 car, an hybrid pickup for sustainable mobility with multi-modal power supply, a totem for the 3D reconstruction of cultural handcrafts, innovative foams for modelling and prototyping, clothes and accessories made with cutting-edge technologies and environmentally friendly materials, optical technologies for old manuscripts analysis, an organic and biodegradable matrix for telecommunications, satellite and automotive applications, LEGO bricks to express collective creativity, Arduino based aquariums, DIY sensors for gardening, an OSC music controller, a camera for streaming and telepresence based on Raspberry technologies, a multi-modal power station, 3D printers, a modular greenhouse and a spacecraft flight simulator.
