Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) collects into a single institution all the major italian scientific research centers about geophysics and volcanology since 1999. INGV closely cooperates with national and international universities and research agencies and at present is the largest institution in Europe dedicated to geophysics. INGV main locations are in Roma, Milano, Bologna, Pisa, Napoli, Catania and Palermo. INGV is committed for the surveillance of seismic and volcanic activity in Italy by a nationwide network of technologically advanced instruments. INGV promotes science outreach through publications, exhibitions and educational activities. INGV will show at the Maker Faire Rome some selected projects based on open source software and hardware frameworks.
